About Me

Bienvenidos chicos!

My guiding mantra in life is, "Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who are aLiVe!"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet you. And share my city with you. I want to see the look on your face the first time you taste Texas brisket. I want to be the guy who took you to your first show at the historic Continental Club where Janis Joplin cut her teeth. I want to show you the cool graffiti art park with spectacular views of downtown. I want to go rent paddle boards and roam around Town Lake with you. I truly believe Austin is one of the best cities in the world, and I want you to as well! Really, I want you to be jealous of me for getting to call this place home. Yet I'm still astounded at the level of notoriety it has gained over the years. To me its still just sleepy ole Austin.

I've only surfed a few times, but my hosts have been fabulous and I know how meaningful it can be to have someone who is from the area you are visiting to ask about different areas of town, activities, etc. and maybe even introduce you to some people that you can get to know during your stay.

Interests

I generally enjoy playing sports. I'm a basketball junkie, but enjoy a friendly match of just about anything - ping pong, tennis, cards (see: Hanabi), and soccer/futbol especially. I also climb fairly regularly and enjoy most adventure sports. I've sky dived and paraglided, but not sold on bungee jumping quite yet. Maybe you can talk me into it!

I also love a lazy day at the pool (if you're in Austin, Barton Springs is a must see) and I love me some time with a good book.

Music, Movies, and Books

I recently watched Trainspotting for the first time - that was an interesting film. I also really liked Meru, a documentary about the first ascent of the mountain.

Recent books I've enjoyed include: In the Skin of Jihadist, The Big Leap, No Place to Hide, Into Thin Air, I Can Barely Take Care of Myself, The Honest Truth About (Dis)Honesty, The HeartMath Solution, Radical Honesty, Open all the Way, Sex at Dawn, the Upside of Irrationality.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm most proud of myself for lead climbing a four pitch route to a summit of nearly 400 feet at El Potrero Chico in Mexico.

I also really enjoyed paragliding in Medellín, Colombia.

Loved someone with all my heart.
