Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

Take the good with the bad

ABOUT ME

I'm taking some time to travel with my sweet girlfriend. So I'm a lesbian, for one thing. I like learning new things (aka: nerd), and meeting new people. I currently have no life plan. Even trying to plan a month or two ahead is tough. I used to make pocket money by reading tarot cards and selling art on the beach. Eventually I want to build an adobe house with a huge garden and a lot of friends living nearby, and make a living as an artist, and have a pet goat.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't know if there is an objective "good" or "bad," and assume that I mostly control the direction and determine the value of my life: a subjective reality. I can't fuck it up and blame somebody else.

Some times I think the most important thing is to cultivate a feeling of acceptance for everyone and everything. Very zen, but I have no idea how to go about that. Couchsurfing helps.

The only meaning and purpose in your life is that which I and my loved ones give to it; how do I value my time and how I live during my life? Thus, I want to see the world, have interesting stories to tell, take the bull by the horns, take risks, meet people, and help people.

Also, life is GREAT.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

In the past I have hosted and travel. Right now I'm traveling, but I hope to have many many guests in the future, when I settle down a bit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent a couple weeks couch surfing my way across North Carolina. Everyone was so kind and hospitable. During that time, I learned to play synthesizer and wash-tub bass, turn lathe, read tarot, and knit. I was given a place to stay, lots of food, lots of clothes, books, and a free working car. Then I traveled for three months in Northern Europe, in a trip that culminated with a CS facilitated boat trip at 80 degrees latitude, in the high arctic of Svalbard.

Intereses

Psychology, mythology, science, foraging, blacksmithing, stargazing, drawing, costumes, DIY-type-crafty-stuff, traveling (obviously), natural building (particularly cob/earthbags), tiny houses, forest gardening, social sciences (sociology, anth, poli-sci), new technological advances, design, teaching, un-teaching, camping and hiking.

Música, películas y libros

Lots, especially books. I have a special place in my heart for Alice in Wonderland and the Chronicles of Narnia, favorite books of my childhood. I just finished reading a Pratchett/Gaiman book, now I'm reading Stranger in a Strange Land. Next is Catch 22!
Edit: I just read the book Princess Bride. Even better than the movie. Highly recommend it.
Edit: I have to add David Foster Wallace and a History of Love to this list.

I love silent moves, especially the 20's animated movie Prince Achmed (super trippy).

I love music, but my tastes are too far reaching to name everything I like. I also like playing music. So far I can only play a couple songs on ukulele, and those are: Hallelujah, Hey Ya, Bridges and Balloons, White Rabbit, Sunny Side of Life, and I'm a Believer. I'm working on No Children.
Edit: and now I play the psaltery, which is like a crazy violin. I can play the song from Amele, Wayfaring Stranger, and the themes from Star Wars, Jurrasic Park, and Young Frankenstien.

Algo increíble que he hecho

I spent all night bathing in a hot spring that flowed through an tunnel/cave that passed right along the faultline of Iceland. I was bathing in a crack to the center of the earth, and I went with a group of 10 other folks. The water was deep enough that you couldn't touch the bottom, but as warm as a hot tub. One girl brought her guitar, and we lit a ton of candles all around. We stayed till long after the sun came up. Some substances may have been involved. It was beautiful.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I can teach you how to forage for food that might grow wild or even in cities. I can also (in very basic terms) teach you how to navigate by stars, resist taxes, and how to make a lot of useful crafts, like an ultra-light camp stove out of soda cans or an awesome bowed psaltery.

I love cooking. I can cook almost anything. If you wish to request something, and you provide me with ingredients, I will likely oblige. Want a homemade batch of cookies right out of the oven? Fresh Cinnamon rolls? Brownie? Fresh baked bread? Chocolate lava cake? A three course dinner for 22 people (though you may need to help me a bit with this one-chopping and such).

I also make it a policy to buy ingredients and cook at least one thing for each host, unless they have dietary restrictions or other dining plans.
