About Me

I believe everyone should be free and enjoy equal rights, regardless of race, creed, ethnicity or prevailing stereotypes. Desmond Tutu said that "If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality". This quote inspires me to stand up against racism, prejudice and xenophobia, and to show solidarity with people that are marginalised, displaced and dispossessed.

I am a PhD student in Keele, UK, and I have previously worked as a human rights lawyer, advocating for asylum seekers and refugees in my home country, Israel/Palestine. I have been taking part in demonstrations against the wall since 2004, and ever since I have been taking part in Palestine solidarity campaigns.

Also, I have been an animal rights activist and a ⓋVeganⓋ for over 12 years🐖🐃 🐑🐮
I have always felt at home on Couchsurfing, and I still keep my 'legacy Couchsurfing profile' at: www.couchsurfing.com/users/303209/profile/legacy

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been hosting Couchsurfers since the development of the first website by volunteers, back in 2006–2007. This amazing community is truly a platform for dialogue, compassion and exchange of ideas. This community allows us to learn from each other's experiences and reinvent the way in which we travel and communicate. Couchsurfers often care about their community and I have witnessed the impact we have around the globe. I had the privilege to meet remarkable people with lofty ideals and I have gained a new perspective on our planet.
Surfing and hosting are both opportunities for a give-and-take between people from different cultures and skillsets, an endless verity of outlooks that have a nearly universal common theme - we are not here on this world solely to advance our career goals and fill our pockets with money - I believe that we are here to make a positive impact on our societies and to fight for what we believe is right, until everyone can enjoy freedom, equality and justice.

Interests

Besides political campaigns, I enjoy parties, concerts, bars, clubs, and mostly vegan restaurants. Sometimes I manage to do some sports, like basketball and soccer. I'm always keen on learning new languages, and I have managed to read the first Harry Potter book in three. I'm also a geek, and I like science fiction, fantasy, board games and cosplay. I still try to improve my Rubik's cube skills, but keep forgetting how to solve it quickly.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have lived for 8 days in total darkness at the Northmost village on the face of the globe - Longyearbyen, Svalbard. I plan to go back there during the summer for a longer period of time when the sun never sets.
I Became friends with a dog named "Noblesse" (which is the worst brand of cigarettes in the world)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can always help with anything regarding Palestine or the Middle East, or with politics, law, economics and more. I can also teach English or Hebrew. I'm still learning French and Arabic.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a cup of coffee or a pint of beer or my travelling experience .
I am more interested to listen to other people then talk about myself, especially people who think differently then me...
