About Me

I'm currently moving from an apartment to a studio so I can't really host until I figure things out.
------
Hello there!
I'm a Brazilian engineer and work with sofware development in São Carlos. This is a college town that often hosts national and international congresses, symposia, etc. So if your coming for such events I may help you with that - been there before!
I live alone in an apartment (I may be looking for a roommate soon) and I enjoy meeting people from different cultures and languages. Actually I'm so interested in languages and cultures that I almost quit engineering college to study linguistics! I love music (I can play a few instruments and would love to learn something else) and cooking (I'm not good at that though, just do my best). And science, oh I love science. I am studying to become a scientist. I have a master's degree on medical image processing and now I'm working as a developer in magnetic resonance/spectroscopy applications.
On weekends I may be out of town to visit my girlfriend.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had a great first experience in CS when I was living in New Mexico USA and didn't have much what to do on weekends, then I went to Albuquerque and surfed every other weekend. I met so many great people there and had a great first impression about CS. Now I want to meet more people, more places, learn more cultures and lifestyles. Also, I live in a city that hosts a lot of university events, so if you are coming to São Carlos and need help with that, send me a message, I've been there before.

Interests

Culture, languages are fascinating. I catch myself watching geography videos on how this or that language, country or society was formed and evolved over history. But I do science for living and want to become a scientist/researcher so I'm studying for that and still have a long way to come - but I love it! I consider myself (partially?) Buddhist, I used to be part of an organization but not anymore. I still carry the fundamental concepts with me. Finally, music used to be a big part of my life, I was in a band (or a few ones) for about ten years and sometimes I listen to music as if I was reading a book.

Music, Movies, and Books

I watch Fight Club and Pixar's Inside Out (Up! and Coco I love you too), listen to Mozart and to System of a Down, read comics and The Godfather (okay lately I have read only scientific papers...). Variety is good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Traveling 14 hours (each way) to attend to a 2-hour class every week for six months.
- My breakfast this morning.
- Backpacking around Bolivia and Peru short on money.
- Watching the sunset at the old broken Keys bridge.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love speaking about pretty much anything. I can teach how to cook some Brazilian food and make Caipirinhas. I can also teach how science works (sounds boring, but it is superfun, I promise!). I would love to learn how to drink coffee without sugar, make drinks and sushi.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good times, we can go out for a beer, see the city (depending on my schedule), talk about anything, make caipirinhas and Brazilian food.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Peru, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
