ABOUT ME

I live a life of quiet passions and numerous enthusiasms, residing in a beautiful world of reading, thinking, movement, travel, and adventures of the mind and spirit, as well as the body. Retirement gives me the glorious leisure to pursue my many interests, including philosophy, music, health, animals, nature, baseball, history, genealogy, cruising. Each day offers its own joys, and I accept them all.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Very happy to host adventuresome souls in beautiful and famous Yacolt, Washington. Well, outside the town, actually. In the middle of the forest, within view of Mt. St. Helens.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mostly Europe, and very positive. Will happily do it again.

Music, Movies, and Books

Reader of many books, a favorite is The Snow Leopard; also The Long Walk. Enjoy good movies when I have time to spare (My Dinner With Andre, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Women in Love come to mind), but prefer books or conversation. I am not a television viewer. Love classical music - Mozart, Haydn, Handel, Schubert, Telemann, etc. Have recently discovered the music of Hans Rotschi, but have no idea what he's singing about.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was once arguably the fastest Masters sprint racewalker in the world. Quite obscure, and virtually no one gives a hoot, but truly amazing nonetheless.
