About Me
CURRENT MISSION
See as much as I can of this Earth. Meet as many creative people as I can on it. Dance whenever I can. Be silly.
ABOUT ME
I'm a single guy who likes to explore. I love live music--particularly rock, pop, and jazz--though I really like any music that's performed with passion; you can tell, you know? I'm a little geeky. I'm pretty solitary, but sociable.

I'm still relatively new to CS. I met some CSers while I was in Münich for Oktoberfest in 2011, which inspired me to get involved.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: everything, really. Genre is an irrelevant notion to me. Good music is good music (and a pretty high proportion of it is good, I've found).
Movies: I like a lot of different movies: I'm enjoying digging into the Criterion Collection, I have an almost complete collection of Pixar, I love comics/fantasy/sci-fi franchises, and the Coens are geniuses without parallel.
Books: Most of my reading now is done as part of book club formed from old and new friends dating back to 2000; we're a diverse group who cycle through book selecting duties in sequence, so we've covered a lot of ground.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I sold veggie quesadillas in the parking lots of Phish concerts during the summer of 1997. I saw every concert of their summer tour and put 10,000+ miles on my car during a trip that looped the long way around the country from Virginia to northern Maine.
Fun fact: All of the regular quesadilla sellers on lot eventually joined a word-of-mouth collective (calling ourselves the Quesadilla Mafia) that price-fixed the market for the rest of the tour. If we ran across someone underselling the "lot price," we would talk them into raising their prices to match. I'm certain this practice continues to this day.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I will very often have some kind of homebrew on tap; if I don't, Grand Rapids is Beer City USA, and some of the best beers in the world are readily available within walking distance of my house.
I have a nice collection of records on vinyl, we can spin a few while we discuss some of the great things that there are to do in western Michigan.
