About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Go on an adventure my 10-yr-old self would be proud of.
ABOUT ME
Hello, hello.
Now this is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down. And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there. I'll tell you a little about myself...
I enjoy hearing people's stories, their perspectives and experiences. The world is diverse and fascinating and I genuinely enjoy breaking things down and understanding the way everything works.
PHILOSOPHY
When I was 16 I was training in Arnis, a Filipino martial art. My teacher asked me if I knew how to tumble without getting hurt. I didn't. He laughed and brought over a karate student from a previous class and told him to teach me. He was 9 years old.
That day I learned more than just how to roll by using momentum to distribute your weight across your back. I learned that with a little humility and a smile you can learn something from everyone you meet.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far I've met up with some Couchsurfers in my area and hung out. I've also couchsurfed with some lovely CSers in the Bay Area
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The concept is fascinating and the people I've met are really cool. I approach it with a culture sharing mentality even though I've only surfed in the US. So I guess I'm bringing the SoCal around the country.
Interests
I enjoy storytelling. Whatever medium it may be. Movies, television, music; but most of all I like sitting down with a person and listening to their stories. Because truth is stranger than fiction, because people will surprise you, because there is no better way to make friends than to look someone in the eye and say "me, too."
Sometimes I write short stories. Usually I'm writing D&D adventures for my friends.
I'm an indoor kid by nature but I do enjoy being out in nature. I enjoy hiking in groups. I take my dog the beach on Saturdays. I bike around the lake on Sundays.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love movies and television; I'm pretty big into American pop culture in general so if you want to debate the merits of Star Trek as it relates to foreign policy or the manifestation of survivalist ideals in culture as reflected in The Walking Dead... I'm your guy. Game of Thrones.
I like crappy, b-movie, zombie flicks.
Music: Right now its Matt & Kim, Sylvan Esso, Anderson .Paak
I'm the guy that buys one record and listens to it for months on end before moving on to the next one.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just one? That's a rule that begs to be broken.
-I've stumbled on the Great Wall.
-I've listened to the symphony rehearse at the Sydney Opera House.
-I've walked the steps to Bag End.
-I've stolen someone's fare in the Tokyo Subway. (On accident, I swear.)
-I've inadvertently bribed a guard to cross a border
-I've held a Koala who had just peed.
-I've refrained from eating kangaroo after petting a kangaroo.
-I've forced an airline attendant to ask "Is there a doctor on board".
-I've gotten drunk and played cards til 4am on a train to New York with people I met on board.
-I've lost myself in Times Square.
-I've trained my dog to return on command (but only when I have food)
-I've given a eulogy for someone I cared for
-I've made friends with animals on 4 continents
-I've fallen recklessly in love
-I've been heartbroken
-I've learned to love again
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a bit about martial arts and self defense if you're into that.
I can also help you min/max a character in any video game.
I can DM a three hour 5e D&D game with less than 15min of preparation.
