About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to be the change I want to see in the world

ABOUT ME

Someday I will bike/or hitchhike around the world!

I feel like I was born to be a citizen of the world, but filling out often discriminatory visa applications, being treated as a potential illegal babysitter and waiting in long lines at consular offices splashes cold water on my face!...

I'm trying to convince myself, that life is too short to spend it doing things that you don't want to. But looking back, I realize that I have spend most of my life doing things that I don't really enjoy, hardly finding time to do things that makes me happy! I should really try to change that proportion...

This might be a little controversial, but I am not a fan of luxury. I prefer sleeping at a central station, than sleeping in a five-star hotel. I always think more fondly of my hitchhiking trips, when I had to spend a night in a truck cabin sharing a two square meters space with 3 people, or eat plain bread for two days after having spent my daily allowance in an Amsterdam Sex-shop, than spending a week in all-inclusive planned vacation...

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a journey, not a destination...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to participate more. I used to host people all the time. I don't have a couch anymore so I don't host travelers currently.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was (and still am) very disappointed when CS became commercialized. I preferred an idea of it being non-profit social enterprise.

Music, Movies, and Books

I used to be very ashamed (but I am not anymore) to admit that I love shitty pop music, old disco and stuff that you can dance your ass off while being drunk at a party. Things like YMCA, I will survive, raining men, etc.
