About Me

I have two passions: to travel the world and to write.

Whatever I have to do to do those things, I'll do it.

I travel to open my mind.

I write with the hope that I'll be able to help develop a closer, better global community.

Right now, you can easily find my writings at http://literatte.com/

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I started using CouchSurfing when I was hitchhiking around the United States, and since then I feel I have come a long way as a CouchSurfer. It was such a new and strange experience for me to have total strangers open their homes to me, but now it's a much more common experience, and I think I love it even more now. I guess I feel like every time that I am hosted on CouchSurfing, or meet someone through CouchSurfing, I am helping to bring the world a little bit closer together!

Interests

I like reading, writing, cooking, hitting the gym, traveling (obviously lol) and hearing people's stories so I can better tell my own.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading; I'm a big fan of Ernest Hemingway and Bret Easton Ellis, but also Joan Didion and Chuck Palahniuk. As long as it feels like a piece of writing holds truth in it, I'm interested in it. As for music, I go through phases; Guns N' Roses, Kanye West, Rolling Stones, synthpop, classical, I'm a bit all over the place.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Meh, it's not up to me to call the things I've done amazing ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I honestly feel like I can learn from just about anyone. I see everyone as some sort of example to be learned from. Hopefully I can serve as an example to others as well! Eventually I'd like to become a teacher, after I've gathered a wealth of life experience, and share the things I've learned with the next generation!

What I Can Share with Hosts

From what I've heard from the people I've met through CS, and many of the people that know me, I'm apparently a pretty inspirational person (not to sound pompous lol). I recognize the things I want to do and then I do them; this seems to have an affect on the people I've met that don't feel they can do the same. I do believe in, and respect, a type of equilibrium in this world; we can't all be rockstars, some people have to ride on the back of garbage trucks. HOWEVER, that doesn't keep me from wanting everyone to be a rockstar! Hopefully, I can continue to affect, and be affected, by the people I meet as I travel!

When I look for hosts now, I look for people I would want to hangout with. When I'm hosted, I try to give back to the host in some way, considering they are giving me a free place to stay; therefore, when I find a host who doesn't really have much time to spend with me, I feel as though I used them, which is a terrible feeling for me.

Now, I'm not a great cook, but as of recent I've come to quite enjoy cooking; I'm constantly looking up and trying new recipes, and I've started to bring a personal cookbook, which is always getting longer, with me when I travel. Regardless, I really enjoy cooking and sharing a meal with my hosts; it's a great way to really get to know someone and to return their gesture of good faith, albeit in a small way. Plus, I become a better cook with each time I'm hosted!
