Figuring life out
ABOUT ME
I am a recent college graduate from a small liberal arts school in Southern California, interested in exploring the world and finding out how other people see it and live in it. I love mountains, waterfalls, forests, and nature in general and I majored in Environmental Science because I think the environment is pretty important. Walking relaxes me, and I feel like I know a place only when I've covered some of it by foot. My happiest moments are good conversations and I learn the most by listening to others. I'm excited about having adventures and finding the small quirks that make each city/ place special.
I'm currently living in Essen, Germany, for a year, working as a research assistant and trying to learn some German.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've hosted with my brother before at my house in Portland, and have surfed with a few incredible people during my journeys around the world. I hope to continue surfing with people as I explore parts of Europe this year, and hopefully eventually/soon host on my own.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had really positive experiences with all of the couchsurfers my brother hosted this summer, and generally love to stay with friends anywhere I travel. Hearing people speak about their life in a place gives a lot more meaning to my travels.
All of the people that hosted me during my travels were unbelievably generous, and I gained so much from each experience.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: always changing, but current favorites are Joy Kills Sorrow, Lake Street Dive, Ingrid Michaelson, Avett Brothers, Blind Pilot, etc. Generally folk/bluegrass/ singer-songwriter, but I'm always up for listening to anything and hearing new music.
Books: ALL. I love Barbara Kingsolver and Haruki Murakami. I love to read, even though I don't do it nearly as much as I want to, and I'm always happy to get book suggestions or share some of mine!
