About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Get to know CouchSurfing. Get to know new people.
ABOUT ME
I'm currently studying for my master's in economics at Humboldt University in Berlin.
Apart from that, I'm into politics, languages and film.
I'm also a big foodie - or rather I'd love to be one but my taste buds don't seem to be refined enough for me to pull off the appropriate level of snobbishness :)
I'm also a geek, as in into Starcraft (watching) and SciFi.
PHILOSOPHY
Those who speak of "good people" with great conviction are to be feared.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've surfed some couches in the US and the UK, and hosted a few people here in Berlin.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
NY City, Austin, Berlin, London, ...
Interests
Politics (Mostly US, watch Daily Show regularly).
The little oddities of Japanese culture.
Philosophy, big thoughts.
Music, Movies, and Books
Movies:
Will watch pretty much anything, I'm a sucker for any kind of moving picture. Among my favorites are "Arrested Development", "Always Sunny in Philly" and a host of other TV comedy series.
Music:
Rock, Alt Rock, Pop. Everything from Shakira to Kings of Leon to Metallica. Love Johnny Cash, and generally everything that has a prominent acoustic guitar.
Books:
Speculative Fiction for recreation.
The occasional non-fiction book (mostly science/politics/trendy stuff) for edumafication.
The Teaching Company audio book courses on philosophy/science for everything in between.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Met (and hugged) my hero Conan O'brien in NY :)
SXSW film/music festival in Austin: listened to about 100 live band performances in only 4 days! Worth a visit for everybody, even without the (overpriced) festival badges.
Teach, Learn, Share
Japanese kids apparently love to have huge beetles as pets - Check out "Queen Beetle Conquers Tokyo!"
Want to broaden your horizon on politics, the future of civilization, the meaning of life and stuff but don't have the time/inclination to read Nietzsche, Locke or Dostoyevsky? Check out DAVID BRIN's essays his website and blog. The guy turned a helluva lot of my views inside out.
