About Me

UPDATE: Just moved to Austria (Klagenfurt) starting my Masters in Media and Convergence Management - therefore I'm no native to this region. However I'm always open to explore the region city with you :)

Hey, I'm Zoë! I just finished my Bachelors in intercultural communication and am currently enjoying my freedom before diving into my masters studies. I always knew that I'm going to leave Germany at some point of my life (preferably after I finish my studies but you know job search is kinda hard and at first you'll take what you get). But I got a good taste of it during my 8 month studying, interning and traveling in Peru and Bolivia. And to be frank: I absolutely LOVED it. Anyway apart from my obvious interest for the abroad I also work as a bartender and congress hostess, which is where I basically practice my language and alcohol skills. Some other things you might like to know about me: I'm quite fun... if you can handle sarcasm. I love talking..sometimes maybe a tiny bit too much. I love exploring...and probably getting lost for some time. And most of the time I'm in if someone has a stupid idea.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To be honest I created this account years ago. I don't even know the exact reason anymore and I soon forgot about it. This is why I haven't used it as much as I'd like at this point. But recently while spending 7 month in Peru and 1 in Bolivia I met many travelers using CS.
Which gave me the idea to update my profile and try it out in the future.

I love the general idea behind CS. Traveling is one of my biggest interests. Unfortunately most of the time it's also quite expensive so CS kind of relieves you from one of the expenses. The best part about it though is that you have the chance to meet new people who mostly share at least the interest of traveling which is amazing.

Interests

I simply love traveling. It gives me a sense of tranquility and freedom. There are so many amazing places to visit in the world and I basically want to see them all. I especially fell in love with the Latin American culture. Maybe because it's just so different from the german one or maybe just because I love Spanish.
Well that brings me to my second love: languages. It's just incredibly fascinating to speak and understand
another language. To be able to converse with people from all over the world.
I just love the feeling!
I also love sports as long as there is action. For example: I hate jogging but I love snowboarding. I go to the gym but I prefer doing the courses than doing my general exercise routine.

Music, Movies, and Books

All kinds of music! Rock is when I feel like coming home. Reggaeton is for my inner Latina. Rock´n´roll and swing just make me smile and giddy. And to techno I could dance all night long.

I´m more a series junkie but basically anything. But always prefer the book to a movie remake!

Well that list is endless so don't get me started! :D

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done some things that others would call amazing: like diving in the Great Barrier Reef, jumping the Bungee Tower or racing down the most dangerous road in the world with a bike.
And don't get me wrong I totally enjoyed all of these experiences.

But I guess the most amazing thing that I tried was actually one that I failed.
A friend of mine convinced me to try to climb Huayna Potosí (a 6088 m mountain) with him near La Paz (Bolivia). I wasn't trained for it. I only trekked a view times before and just 2 or 3 times in heights. Anyway we signed up for the 3 day tour. First day we learned how to use the ice crampons and pick. Second day we had to get all our equipment up to the high camp. Third night we started the hike to the summit at 1am. At first everything was alright but after 4 hours of walking at the height of 5200+m my body started to tire out. In the end we had to return at 5600m. I was crushed if I'm being honest but it was an experience I'll never forget.
I'm still proud I tried and am sure that I will do it again...maybe next time better prepared.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well of course I can teach or practice one of the languages I speak well or you could teach me. We could teach each other some special recipes or just talk about our traveling experiences.
I'm an openminded person so if I got the knowledge I'll be happy to share it or to learn something the other way around.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I really enjoy talking to other people. Getting to know them, joking around and having some crazy ideas (which sometimes become reality). I'm also a good listener. I don't care whether you're my best friend or someone I just got to know. If you got a problem I'll try to help as simple as it is.
Oh and I love cooking...and baking. The cleaning up not so much but of course this is part of it! :D
I can also mix some mean cocktails as long as I got the alcohol and the equipment.. if not there's always some way!
