About Me

Hey everyone, I'm Mesut!

I am from Turkey (from the lovely hilly town of Şavşat,Artvin) but i grew up in Istanbul. Currently im a master's degree student in Magdeburg, Germany.
I have been away from couchsurfing for almost 2 years now. Apparently many things changed here (with verification, especially that we have to pay for it now...(!). So if you judge me for this, that would be really sad.

I am a person trying to find meaninig and purpose of "life". I've had many inner turmoils , problems, challenges... I find travelling (especially solo , sometimes but not always) is a good medicine both for body and soul. I am trying to perform it as much as i can, and i decided to start hitchhiking also as often as it is possible as opposed to using conventional options.

I am vegetarian since couple of months (though i cheat once a month!), could talk about history and social aspects, and life in general. I do not like politics at all though more or less i get to read them on news.
I do really like nature activities, i used to do mountaineering and rock climbing and i would like to practice as much as i can. I would also like hiking and trekking, camping in nature and so on.
I am not a member of any religion, however i seem to be interested in Buddhism nowadays..

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I learned CS first time from my friends. I will be honest, i started it because i wanted to meet international people, create a network and get to know more different cultures. But now it is a bit more different.
My purpose here in CS is more to meet likeminded people, preferably with certain knowledge instead of empty-talking (I don't mind at all! However doing it always is not fun :) ), hike around, exchange cultural and spiritiual conversations.

Interests

My main interests besides travelling are Mountaineering, Rock climbing, trekking and all sort of other nature activities, which i used to perform. Unfortunately i neglected them ever since i moved to Germany.
I am also trying to start hitchhiking, and i would like to meet people with experience!

Music, Movies, and Books

I do not have a particular "favourite" type of music, whatever feels nice to my soul is always good :) But i seem to be listening rock&roll (especiall 70s,80s,90s) a bit more often than others.

I like to read history books, especially ancient history (Greco-Roman, Persia and the area surrounding Europe&Middle east in general). I read Tolkien books also.. read Silmarillion twice and i might do even more :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, this is hard to answer. It depends on what "amazing" is. I guess i am most amazed when i feel like im helping people...

Teach, Learn, Share

I am learning meditation, i am not an expert but at least i am capable of teaching basics (or you can teach me, hehe).
I can of course talk about my country, can tell the places i travelled and advices, my view of life, how to cope with certain challenges in life..

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my nature experiences, talk about cultures, , provide good locations all around the Turkey and previous European countries i have been to before, cook vegetarian and turkish food (unfortunately im not the best one), have some intellectual conversations.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey

Countries I’ve Lived In
