About Me

Hey there, I'm Sahara! I'm a bit of an introvert, but I'm all about meeting new people and having a good time. I'm all about two things in life: traveling and food. They're my ultimate passions!

I'm not actively seeking hosts, but I'm always up for some epic hangouts. My door is open to all you open-minded ladies out there. Just to clarify, I only host women since it's a shared room situation. Let's have a great time!!

By the way, I asked my Japanese friend to give me a name, and in Japanese, it is "更紗" (さらさ). Also my Vietnamese friend bestowed upon me the name "Huyền Ngọc."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm all about meeting cool people and sharing unforgettable experiences. I actually stumbled upon this wicked website thanks to my good friend I met during my first-ever travel adventure. Back then, my English skills were zilch, but I took the plunge, created an account, and started hosting people. And you know what? Hosting awesome women from all corners of the globe is a total thrill!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music :
I'm into all kinds of music and genres. Life without tunes? No way! I'm a bit old-school, rocking those headphones over airpods any day. I'm all about Indonesian jams, Russian beats, Spanish vibes—you name it! I've even got a soft spot for Norwegian tunes, especially folk and classic jams. Let me tell you, Kino, this Russian old pop band, totally rocks my world. And have you heard of Wardruna? They're one of my all-time faves, with their epic Viking vibes. When it comes to Indonesian music, I lovehe traditional stuff. And hey, Sheila on 7 and Hindia are some local gems I can't get enough of. I'll admit, my knowledge of the latest Indonesian bands isn't super up-to-date, except for Hindia, of course.

Books :
I have a deep passion for reading, especially novels. It has been a cherished hobby of mine since my teenage years. Although I haven't had much time lately, there's this one book, well, actually it's more like a dictionary. Yes, a dictionary! I find great fascination in reading the "Dictionary of Word Origins". It provides me with a wealth of knowledge about the origins and etymology of words. This particular dictionary holds sentimental value as it was a thoughtful gift from a dear friend of mine.

Movies :
I'm a big fan of thrillers, particularly psychological ones. Movies that make my brain work. Lately, I've been watching Indonesian horror films because I watch them with my mom and my brother. Even though I'm not really into horror, especially Indonesian horror, this is the genre my mom loves and understands. But I actually enjoy spending time with them and watching these movies. The last two films I watched were "Malam Para Jahanam" and "Primbon".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every morning, as soon as I wake up I say, "Good morning, Sahara! I love you!" It may sound like a small thing, but it fills me with so much happiness and positivity. Starting the day with this simple act of self-affirmation and self-love sets a wonderful tone for the rest of my day. It's amazing how such a small gesture can have such a big impact on my overall happiness.

One particular experience that stands out is when I embarked on a solo journey from Padang Besar to Hat Yai. However, I encountered an issue at the immigration checkpoint due to the limitations of my passport. The authorities informed me that Indonesians were not allowed to cross the border by train, despite having a valid ticket. They suggested that I go back and take a flight from Penang instead. The whole situation was quite dramatic and filled with twists and turns. I had to walk a bit to reach another immigration checkpoint where I was taken to a special room for an interview. Thankfully, the issue was eventually resolved. It was my first time crossing a border on foot, and the experience left me feeling a mix of excitement and pride. Looking back, it was a remarkable adventure that I will always remember fondly.
