ABOUT ME

"Theater" and "garden", have become favorite metaphors.

Theater requires action, interaction and playing parts with intention, life, gusto, maybe even purpose. What ever the theater, it demandes players to act and gives audience to our reflection of experience and imagination.

Garden actively effecting and interfering with relationships in an environment. It's about discovering, learning and PRACTICING maintainable ecology that makes connections of our appatites, desires and wastes. To intervene and participate, & reap the rewards of our assumptions and tender labours.

Or am I just acting out here?

Making a difference is actually fun, whether it's taking out the garbage, speaking a denied truth, or connecting with someone across a distance.

Just, dance a revolution. Move freely, in oceans of sound, energy, and influence. Interpret, interact, influence. Fluid context, bright dreams of the future, utterly rooted in NOW!

Hey, CS is a non-profit Corporation isn't it? I've been wanting to write what one of those is, concisely for months or years. I think I've done it. I put what I've done in the CS wiki...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

From 14 years old to 19 years old was never within 500 miles of where I was the previous six months. It was kind of like French immersion, only not French. I learned a lot. I've lightened up a lot since then too.

Centres d'intérêt

I like figuring stuff out, how it works, why it's that way, and what the hell is it anyway. Beware, I make an effort, pay attention. I expect a lot of my self, so I expect much of the world and of others too. Drifters and freeloaders bore me. And I'm capable of kicking back for some party too. I live on my own fifty acres of dirt. I've kept live stock in the past. { cow, pig, and goats and chickens} We will again! I used to be a great believer in COMMUNITY. I still want to play, but I'm cagey. I do have expectations.

Not much of a carpenter, yet. This summer I'll finish paying my mortgage! So, what's next? I've been tending the high-forest here, (yes there is some here). That makes for timbre for peeling and milling. I could start building this fall. I want to learn timber framing, and build some slab on grade with radiant flooring. I could / I WILL run co-gen heating in parts of this project, warm & draft free floors will balance off some of the cruder elements of tightness and finish caused by a more hand made craft of building. Sounds fun eh?

When anyone asks, 'why anything', about a corporation, its Board is identified as 'the because'. A Board of Directors is always responsible, not only for how it is, but also, for how it got that way, as well as, for making it how it should be.

How money owns & buys, the means of getting more money.
"Non-profit Corporation":
Oxymoron? Almost! Sleight of hand? Definitely.

A NON-profit corporation is NOT owned by money for the money it can accumulate. A non-profit corporation is, a commercial player, owned and directed, by 'a common society' through the association of its members, via their representatives on a governing council. Corporations have many powers, privileges, and advantages, not available to human persons. The non-profit's corporate or business enterprise, depends on & feeds on its community's capacity. All corporations do. The non-profit's Board of Directors must direct, restrain, and justify the corporation's acts, appetites and costs FOR ITS SOCIETY, and not, for the advantages of privilege. It is the Board of Directors which 'the society', directly and as peers trusts, to steer, account for, and be in charge of that relationship.

"Democratic reform is a do-it-yourself project for citizens. We cannot depend on the media or those in positions of power to lead the democracy revolution. It's up to us! Let's do it!" The buck stops in our hands.

Too long ago to remember?... England? India? Gandhi? or the persons who found themselves unacceptably excluded by two of those three.

Too painful to admit?... The U.S., purveyor of freedom, democracy, and opportunity, or the persons who find death more honestly expressive of their exclusion.

Too close for comfort?... ...{try one, it's probably both pretty subtle, and blatant}

Yearning to Learn a place to belong?
This is 50 acres. 45 minutes easy bike to Killaloe, 30 minute walk to Round Lake, a 2 hour drive to Peterborough, or Ottawa. Here independence and vulnerability provide real perspective on opportunity, culture, and heritage; how we are hooked and caught in old ways. There's being to study, along with auto body, baking or building. & Habits, culture and conduct, are inside always, ever wonder? Outside, there's real physics and technology, answering our needs & habits, out of this reality. If you're learning, developing skill and capacity, making a difference, and are ready to extend and focus your understanding, practice, ability & perception, I want in // I mean, have I got the place for you! (some assembly required).
Celebrate, what little can be known, make peace, make progress.

Design your purpose, into curriculum, discipline, skill.
Exalt diversity, co-operation, & include personal growth & expression. Performance, dissertation and review will become significant parts of our learning & listening. Tuition is in acts as much as assets assigned. Models? academes and universities circa 300-600 years ago, hospitals / hospices circa 150-300 years ago, monasteries, tribalism, hermitages, villages, &? Contribute vision, substance, work and growth, generate symbiosis.

So, who am I, anyway?
I'm a 48 year old rogue community development worker. I'm qualified in, plumbing; electric's; air-conditioning / refrigeration; propane, natural gas, and oil burning. I started the community radio station in Killaloe. I wrote incorporation documents for the Killaloe Heritage & Ecology Centre. I'm on the board of the Killaloe Community Resource Centre, 5 years now. & I'm a single father of two teenish kids, half time. I'm still a living dreamer and doer.
& I'm still not pacified, so lets create more, in life & energy.

Life needn't be worlds away. Consider, call, comment, commit, co-operate, construct.
