About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Save the forests - save the world

ABOUT ME

I love nature, fixing things and telling tall stories.

For instance this is a tall story:

Sean the scientist and Wiki the talking Labrador make flying machines out of old junk and bits of smelly rag. Wiki helps melt bits of steel tube together, and sticks cloth to the steel to keep the draft out. The flying machines rattle and bang and scare coushsurfers like Bill the Labrador. Then Sean flies the machines into the mountains so that Wiki the story telling Labrador can chase deer. Wiki's great at chasing deer and gets very excited.

Sometimes they take the flying machines to the South Island to scare tourists there, who pay lots of money to get scared (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLO9NCH6Hvk). If the bad tourists don't pay up quickly the ghost of Bill the Labrador really scares them. Booo.

Sometimes Sean, Bill and Wiki go to the west coast to sniff gold washed up on the beaches and to count trees in the forest. They count and measure tree after tree. Then they sell the numbers from the trees to famous scientists for lots of money and dogfood. The numbers from the trees get published and make the scientists even more famous and very happy.

But not Sean, Wiki and Bill who don't want to be famous. Just chase deer, count trees and fly their machines.

The best tall stories are the ones that have had the truth in them stretched so high that they snap and fall to the ground in lots of pieces. Tall stories are fun, especially if they're short, you believe them and they are topped off with whiskey in the evening.

We are here for such a short time and there is so much we need to do. So we should live to work, work is great, working in nature. www.nzforestsurveys.co.nz

When not working and telling tall stories, Sean and friends like climbing, telemark skiing, running, flying and life in New Zealand's wonderful forests.

PHILOSOPHY

Christianity has such wonderful morality, pantheism brings you close to nature and buddism spreads peace. But science is the hope for humanity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting travelers and surfing couches in South America. Its always good to meet new people so if I'm in the Bay (mostly are), you can probably stay. Its always nicer if people stay a few days and not just rush through.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lots of great people have stayed at my apartment. I've hosted travelers from UK, Ireland, Europe(from Finland to Spain, from Netherlands to Czech Republic and everywhere in between), India, Asia, North (Alaska to Mexico) and South America. Waiting for the Aussies and Africans...

Interests

Make the world a better place. Work hard and laugh harder. Oh yes, and tall stories that might make people laugh.

Music, Movies, and Books

Blues in 12 bars. Bill used to play the drums, and Wiki can dance. But none of us have got any rhythm. Nevermind, we have fun.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Nearly sung in tune once. That was amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

A clove hitch is the most useful of knots. Make two loops (right side over left) - shuffle them like the pages.
