About Me

I live outside a small town in West Virginia with my husband and our dog. We're here mostly for work, but have lived all over the east coast and in Spain in the last 10 years.

I'm a pleasant easy-going person. I try not to take myself very seriously and I try not to plan too far ahead into the future. It makes me happy to see other happy people and I get along with almost anyone.

I love yoga, reading, hiking, gardening, traveling, playing with my dog and pretty much any outdoor activity. Professionally, I study fish, which means lots of field work in the summer and lots of computer work in the winter.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've couch-surfed in Las Vegas and hung out with a great group of surfers in Spain. On my travels around Europe I stayed with lots of random, awesomely kind people in London, Kilkenny Ireland, Scotland, and Paris.

If you're an honest, kind person I want to meet you and be your friend whether I'm traveling near your home or you happen to be in West Virginia.

Interests

The outdoors- camping, hiking, fishing, birdwatching, cloudwatching, stargazing.
I love dance and music, and I enjoying dancing, acting, and yoga.
Live music is amazing, especially acoustic guitar.
I also like beer and wine, especially while I'm cooking.
I like reading books, campfires, roadtrips, and running through the woods barefoot.

I LOVE BREAKFAST, especially bagels.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Love in the Time of Cholera, Life of Pi, God of Small Things, Confessions of an Economic Hitman, The Sex Lives of Cannibals, 1984...and a whole lot more.

Music: I like everything. Listening to the radio makes me feel like I'm in touch with the rest of the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hitchhiked halfway to the port on Arran Island in Scotland, and when no one else would pick me up, I stashed my suitcase in the bushes and hiked up a crazy rocky mountain to try to challenge a wild goat for his rock. When I got there, he gave me a look like "What the hell do you think you're doing?". So I went around and saw the most amazing view of my life thus far. It was the only time on my trip around Europe that I didn't bring my camera.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've studied Political Science, Environmental Studies, and Marine Science. I currently research brook trout. I love to learn about the ecology of new areas. I'm very comfortable and familiar with the forest and I love to learn as much as I can about the culture and ecology of other countries.
