ABOUT ME

I moved to Belmont in Jan 2013 to start another master's program, this time in user experience design. Prior to living in Belmont, I lived in Syracuse, NY for 4 years. Before Syracuse I finally fulfilled a long-time dream of living for an extended period in the Netherlands. Prior to living in the Netherlands, I lived in 8 different neighborhoods in Los Angeles, a kibbutz in the Negev, a summer in New York City, a semester in small-town Nebraska, and semester in Paris. I really like to laugh and look for something to enjoy every day. I'm a vegetarian and don't smoke or drink.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've couchsurfed in Berlin, Toronto, Leiden, Salt Lake City. I'm semi-active in some local groups. The openness and generosity of the people I've met has been outstanding!

Interesses

Hearing people's life stories. Attending sporting events in places I am visiting (any sport, even if I don't know the rules, and have taken a keen interest in the cricket matches that occur even afternoon on the quad of my uni). Long walks on flat land. Reading. Yoga. Recreational cycling. Power of compassionate touch. Supporting the amazing independent filmwork of my friend Thea. Just starting to watch anime. Learning how to make a better cheesecake :)

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

I recently saw the film Beijing Bicycle and would like to find someone else who saw it to talk about it with. Favorite books are The Wheel on the School and the Adrian Mole series. The Shadow of the Sun by Ryszard Kapuscinski was also great and highly recommended. Also enjoyed The Human Stain by Philip Roth, Without Reservations by Alice Steinbach, and the memoirs of Ruth Reichl.

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

In April 2008 I managed to complete a 5 day, 205km walk through the Dutch province of Friesland. I hadn't trained properly and by the end of the first day realized that I was in no condition to take on such an event. To the amazement of everyone (including myself) I crossed the finish line and proudly received my medal of completion. I saw how strong the human will can be.
