About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To leave behind this icy isolation for some seriously expansive adventuring. To wander.

ABOUT ME

Update #4: I guess this is just how I do this profile thing now, huh? After some of the aforementioned "seriously expansive adventuring," I actually decided to settle down in Pittsburgh, PA. I've been here about five years now, weathered a Pandemic 'n' everything, and plan to stick around for the forseeable future. In fact, pretty soon here I might even be in a position to finally host!

Meanwhile, starting to venture out on a few little adventures again -- and definitely still not changing my location until I absolutely have to. ;)

. . .

Update #3: This is yet another meta-update about how I still haven't updated my profile. (Turtles, turtles, turtles all the way down.) I'm no longer living in Oklahoma. My most recent residence was in Albuquerque, NM (and I'm now a working massage therapist!) buy, at the moment, I'm on a big cross-country roadtrip and have no home address. I'm planning to return to Albuquerque for a little while at the end of the summer, and then...who knows where I'll end up!

. . .

Update #2: Still haven't had a chance to overhaul the whole profile yet, but I'm now living in Stillwater, OK!

. . .

Sorry, my profile's a little out of date! I'm no longer living and working in Antarctica, but it's such a cool thing to have at the top of the page, how could I change it? ;) I've been in Las Cruces, NM for about the past year and I'm headed to Santa Fe, NM this Fall to go to massage school. Will update with more details soon!

P.S. If my profile says I just logged in from somewhere exciting like Sweden or New Zealand, don't believe it. ;) I use a proxy called "The Onion Router" [torproject.org] that confuses the Internet about where my web traffic is coming from but I promise I'm most likely just chilling in Las Cruces. :)

. . .

Grew up mostly in the US, with a few years spent living in Australia, Japan and Ireland. Graduated in 2004 from the University of Colorado, where I studied Philosophy and Sociology. Worked for a little while as a research assistant, and then spent several seasons working as a Janitor and General Assistant at McMurdo Station, Antarctica.

After leaving Antarctica, I took a year traveling on a 'Round-the-World ticket, then returned to the US to spend time reconnecting with family, friends and loved ones around the country. Hope to surf some couches, meet some folks, and have some adventures while I'm here. If you've got a couch to offer in any of the areas I'll be, or just want to grab coffee and share stories, drop me a note!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Someone recently asked me about the most beautiful thing I'd EVER seen. It's hard to pick from all the amazing moments I've been fortunate to experience but, when pressed, I told them that watching the sun come up over Mt. Discovery and the Antarctic Royal Society mountains after spending four months in total darkness probably takes the cake. :)
